What is Whatsapp?

WhatsApp Messenger, or simply WhatsApp, is an American freeware, cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP service owned by Facebook, Inc. It allows users to send text messages and voice messages, make voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other media.

• India has the most WhatsApp users — 400 million - which isn't surprising since the rise of Jio and smartphones being quite affordable.
• Over 500 million Indians now use smartphones, 77% of who are online.
• In India, there are more than 15 million monthly WhatsApp Business app users.

• There are more users even in Rural India at present due to the affordability of the internet and smartphones.
